BOND TESTING EQUIPMENT BONDMASTER

The Sonic BondMaster, by Staveley Instruments, is a digitally controlled nondestructive test unit which is compact, lightweight, and rugged. The unit is used to inspect and test the soundness of bonds in all advanced composite structural components. it is also able to detect subsurface delamination and unbonds quickly and reliably.

This training module is designed to help you understand the features of the BondMaster. The BondMaster training module consists of six lessons. The first lesson will introduce you to the unit and provide you with safety measures power requirements and maintenance and care of the unit.

The next two lessons will provide you with a description of the features of the instrument including the keypad, indicators, rear-panel connectors, probe connector, probe types, screen displays, alarm and program screens, default parameters, printing data and the special menus. Test method Operations will show you how to operate the unit in the following test methods: Resonance, Pitch/Catch Swept, Pitch/Catch Impulse and Mechanical Impedence Analysis. The Sample Applications lesson will allow you to experience each testing method.

    • Set up parameters and see results for materials composed of monolithic graphite epoxy containing delaminations.
  • Pitch-Catch Swept Test Method
    • Set up parameters and see results for materials comprised of fiberglass clothskin bonded to a nomax honeycomb core.

Sample Applications, Part 2

  • Pitch-Catch Impulse Test Method
    • Set up parameters and see the results for materials made up of thin graphite epoxy skin over an aluminum honeycomb core with a crushed core defect.
  • Pitch-Catch Impulse Test Method
    • Set up parameters and see results for materials comprised of an aluminum skin bonded to an aluminum honeycomb core containing a disbond between skin and core.
